10 Steps to Coleen's shape

  1. Ditch the junk - it's worth it! - "In the run-up to your big day, you need to stay focused. Temptation is everywhere - knocking back the wine and tucking into fatty foods with your hens needs to be restricted to just one night a week. We all deserve treats but a good, balanced diet with lots of lean protein, fruit and veg combined with slow-burning carbs, like wholewheat bread and rice, is the way to go. Trust me, it is worth it in the end and your skin will be glowing and energy levels sky high, just like Coleen's."

  2. Eat like a star - "Eat like a celeb, too. I work with many well-known faces and trust me, they eat differently. They ask for extra veg and hold back on the creamy sauces and dressings. Fish and meat is grilled and desserts are for special occasions only, not every night of the week!"

  3. Invest in the right footwear - "Before you go leaping into buying those sexy, strappy Gina wedding heels, it is an absolute must that you invest in some really good training shoes for when you're exercising. Cheap trainers create all kinds of problems, including back ache, so go to your local sports shop and buy a proper running shoe if you are running, or a cross trainer shoe if you are doing aerobics classes or using gym equipment. Coleen never used to like gyms or low-fat food, but once she got into her routine and saw the results - a tighter bottom, a flatter tummy - her enthusiasm rocketed."

  4. The naked truth - "One of my best tips is to go ‘naked shopping'! Yes, the next time you go shopping - for your bridal underwear or even shoes - pretend you are walking around in your frillies. It sounds silly but firstly, it encourages you to maintain good posture (more on this later) since you can't help but stand tall and tuck in your abs! Another advantage is that it is a clever psychological reminder for you to encourage body consciousness."

  5. Keep on moving and start right now! - I always recommend to my bridesto- be to start getting in shape as soon as possible once you have set your date. I genuinely believe that you do not need a pricey gym membership to get into that bridal gown. Walking, running and resistance training can all be done at home or in the local park. Grab a friend, perhaps a fellow bride-to-be, one of your hens or, even better, your groom and get out there and start moving!"

  6. Dance away those inches - "Go dancing! It is great exercise - from salsa to jive and ballroom - plus you will feel incredibly confident on the dance floor on the night of the wedding. Combining cardio with weight training is doubly effective, so invest in some hand-held weights for when you go for a run. Or each time you whizz up the stairs, carry a couple of litre water bottles or even cans of beans!"

  7. Find your inner celeb! - "There's a ‘celeb' bride in all of us, it is just a case of finding her and working on your self belief. Commit to going down a dress size at first and see how good that feels. Just like Coleen, pace yourself - this is about transforming your body for the rest of your married life and incorporating healthy eating and exercise, not just for your wedding, but for your long-term health. On your wedding day, you are the star!"

  8. Walk tall - "You've seen the way celebs seem to glide down a red carpet with amazing poise and confidence. It is all down to good posture. Walking down the aisle will be the magic moment of your wedding, so I recommend to my bridal clients that they use the 30 per cent rule. During any daily task, simply tuck in your abs by 30 per cent. A good tip is to pretend you are zipping up a pair of just washed but slightly tight jeans. If you can, pull in a bit more and a bit more every day - a flatter tummy instantly! And watch out for the added graceful height you will give yourself."

  9. Enjoy it! - "One of the things many people have said about Coleen is that she simply radiates vitality and happiness. This is down to her sunny personality so I say to you, keep smiling and stay positive. Coleen never went for the sizezero extreme, just toned, slim and healthy. Her attitude is to simply enjoy life, and cut back on snacks and sweets if any pounds creep on. If your weightloss takes a serious set-back or you miss a few training sessions, don't give yourself a hard time. Just get back on plan - you know and I know, it is worth it!"

  10. Trouble spots - "I often find that the arms are big trouble spots for brides-tobe, so try my arm boosters. First, 10-15 tricep dips. Place a chair against a wall and sit on it with your knees bent and feet apart; hold the sides of the chair and raising your bottom, let your arms take the weight; repeat. Next biceps! Stand with your feet shoulderwidth apart, with some handheld weights, keeping your elbows into the sides, and slowly raise your weights - repeat 10-15 times and gradually build up."
