Perseverance pays off for Oxfordshire groom

A groom who badgered the pop group Hanson for months to try to get them to play at his wedding finally persuaded the band – infamous for the erm, ‘catchy’ hit MmmmBop – to perform for them, and have had their honeymoon thrown in to boot.

On the 28th July 2012, James Bishop will be getting married. The thing he wanted most in the world was for his favourite band Hanson to be his wedding band. Together with his friend Douch, they sent the pop group a daily video asking them to please make his dreams come true. 461 videos later, Hanson relented and while they aren’t available to perform at weddings and were already booked on that date, they generously agreed to fly the couple (but not Douch) to Jamaica, and pay for their hotel so that they could watch a performance of that infamous song (and others) on the Caribbean island as part of their honeymoon.

We still don’t know if bride Jennie Tripp – who was blissfully unaware of her fiancés efforts – even likes Hanson. You can see the final ‘Hanson at my Wedding’ video blog here hansonatmywedding.tumblr.com/

Has your groom gone to great lengths to do something amazing for you on your big day? Or have you pushed the boat out to organise something for him to make it extra special? We’d love to hear your stories of effort and perseverance, or even just fun planning stories…
