How to Choose Bridesmaids’ Dresses

It’s time for Style Editor at Heat magazine, Jo Hoare, to pick her bridesmaids dresses!

With three months to go until the big day, my attention turned to Dessy for my bridesmaids as in my quest for frocks that flatter as I’ve made the decision to go for three different dresses, sticking to the same length, fabric and shade but letting each girl pick out the neckline and style that she felt most suited her body shape. If you haven’t checked out Dessy it’s well worth a look as they have literally hundreds of dresses all in countless colour options so you can more or less have any frock you want.

Here’s what I’ve chosen and why…

Siwan, the new mum

With an adorable four month old, Poppy, Siwan wanted a bit of extra support in the bust and something that pulled her in at the waist. We chose this gorgeous one shoulder number that made the most of her new boobs (it didn’t look half as good on smaller bosoms) and the belted waist effect was super flattering, creating a lovely hourglass shape.

Lisa, pear-shaped bridesmaid

Lisa has enviably toned arms but doesn’t like her bottom half and is conscious of having a smaller bust. With this in mind we picked this romantic feeling frock. The strapless style really showed off her arms, the ruching over the bust added some subtle curves and the empire line meant it totally skimmed over her hips and thighs.

Arabella, petite bridesmaid

As a single bridesmaid Arabella wanted a hint of sexiness as a bridesmaid and with her lovely petite figure who can blame her! For her we went with strapless again- she has a great olive skin tone so wanted to show some skin with full ruching across the top-giving it a subtly sexy Grecian feel.
