The next issue of Wedding Ideas magazine (out 7th September) is going to be even more special than usual. It’s our 100th!
To celebrate this milestone we threw a fabulous party last week at Somerset Country Cricket Ground.
Butlers in the Buff, fun photobooth action, bubbles, a black with hot pink theme, balloon arches, a sprinkle of ginger magic, one giraffe and a whole heap of fun… Sounds like an average party for the fun-packed crew at Giraffe Media. ‘The herd’ are fast building a reputation for throwing the best parties, and the celebrations for our 100th issue, which had just gone to press, was no exception.
Guests arrived to be “papped” by Belinda McCarthy Photography, and were greeted by founder and publisher Rachel Southwood and Commercial Manager Pippa Ward (who had project managed the party, as if that much fun can be planned in). While Take That 11 by Warble Entertainment performed their sound check, guests were directed upstairs to be handed a glass of bubbly by near-naked butlers. Emotional speeches by Rachel Southwood, Pippa and Director Tina Cook followed and then it was time for the party to get started.
All good down-to-earth parties are accompanied by a buffet, and Somerset County Cricket Club didn’t disappoint. And as if that wasn’t enough Ice Maiden Cakes provided a cupcake cocktail bar, each cake laced with copious amount of alcohol, dressed up to the nines in an eye-candy display of goodness. The photobooth by Groovybooth provided props and a wind machine, churning out memory after memory of an unforgettable night.
Guests took their seats on tables dressed by Taunton’s Party On, accentuated by Candy Blossom Trees and flowers by local florist Dotty Daisy. Entertained while they ate by DJ Darren Daley, soon the dancefloor was packed in eager anticipation of the main act – Warble Entertainment’s Take That 11, who danced and performed a range of the band’s greatest hits. Rarely did the dancefloor empty, even when the band finished their set and gave Darren a chance to shine – providing tunes for everyone.
The party continued until gone midnight at the Cricket Club, when it spilled into local bar Mambo and finished at 6am at Pippa’s house. It was a party the likes of which Taunton has rarely seen.
Guests included designers Sassi Holford, Madeline Isaac James, Benjamin Roberts and Jason Jennings/Veromia. Shoe specialists Rainbow Club enjoyed their evening, along with Flo and Percy and top photographer Damien Lovegrove. Many of the herd’s closest comrades, family and friends rocked up to enjoy what was the perfect celebration of the UK’s biggest bridal magazine success story.
Top designers Kitty and Dulcie said: “We think that Wedding Ideas magazine should hold a massive bash for their 101st issue, 102nd issue and so on…”
